“Rely on [your] wits to . . . execute a perfect escape.”

The Breakout Brings the Point-and-Click Sexy Back with a £49,500 Kickstarter Funding Goal
LONDON – April 2, 2014 – A new golden age of adventure games lies just around the corner: Introducing The Breakout by Pixel Trip Studios, a point-and-click graphical adventure that dares players to escape a max security POW camp —the feared Verdammen Hof. A nail-biting roller coaster ride for adults, The Breakout pays homage to The Great Escape and LucasArts classics like The Secret of the Monkey Island to deliver a brand new adventure game to nostalgic Kickstarter backers.
Having bootstrapped the game for £35,000 (~$58,000) during the past six months, Pixel Trip Studios is now seeking £49,500 (~$82,000) to deliver the full game to Steam users in late 2015. The Kickstarter campaign will run from Wednesday, April 2 (today) to Monday, May 12.

The Breakout tells the story of Guy Kassel, an ex-thief, whose life of crime is turned around when his fiancée convinces him to clean up his act and sign up for the Air Force. Soon after rising to the rank of Captain, Guy is shot down and captured across enemy lines. Forced to join forces with a ragtag group of repeat escapees, Guy must now survive the brutal POW camp and regain his freedom.
When night falls, the camp becomes Guy’s domain. Controlled by the player, Guy’s thievery skills are put to good use as he sneaks out of his dorm, past spotlights and guard dogs—picking locks and stealing tools as he goes. If Guy is caught breaking any rules or sneaking around during lights out, the player’s inventory will be confiscated and Guy will be thrown in the cooler! If he is caught outside any of the perimeter fences, the guards and towers are instructed to shoot on sight. . . .
The Breakout has a darker tone than most adventure games, thanks to a historically accurate portrayal of life in a WW2 prisoner camp. This is not a game for kids 🙂
“The story of a man against the odds, locked down by a ruthless oppressor and striving to be free has always fascinated me,” says Adam Jeffcoat, Director of Pixel Trip Studios. “Dropping him in the hellish conditions of a POW camp during WW2 felt like the perfect setting to take the player on an emotional rollercoaster. Surviving with nothing but his wits, an escape plan and the fierce desire to break free provides that glimmer of hope that keeps a man going above all else.”
The game’s soundtrack was created by the incredibly talented Adam Zuranda of www.singularity-music.com. You can hear a sample on the project’s Kickstarter page.
